Department of Neurological Surgery policy regarding overtime and comp time for exempt employees
It is the Department's policy to discourage employees from working overtime unless it is absolutely necessary. The employee's supervisor reserves the right to make the determination of if, and when, overtime is required and must approve the overtime in advance (e-mail is ok) before the employee can begin the overtime hours. If the employee is covered by collective bargaining units TX, RX, and CUE, upon hire and in June, thereafter the employee can then elect to take the overtime as a payout or as comp time. Non-covered employees will take overtime as comp time.

Department of Neurological Surgery policy regarding vacation time requests
It is the Department's policy that employees must request vacation time from their immediate supervisor, via either a written memo or e-mail, at least one week in advance of the actual vacation. A return e-mail authorizing the leave time is sufficient record of approval. The supervisor reserves the right to defer or reschedule the vacation time depending on the operational needs of the Department.
